Attend a Christmas Parade

Across the county, there are many Christmas parades that are unique to its town. The Palm Bay parade stretches about 3miles down Malabar Road and usually has thousands of families camped out on the side of the main road, ready to see all of their friends walking in or riding on a decorated float in the parade. In the Melbourne parade, you'll see many of your favorite local businesses and schools waving and handing out candy. The Viera Parade is known for their firework show, and this year is thier first year to introduce large balloons (like you'd see in the infamous Macy's Day parade).

If you're looking for the best Santa experience for your children, Bass Pro on Palm Bay Road is the place to go! First, reserve your time with the big man by visiting their website. Then be sure to get there early so you the kids can partake in the festive activities they have in Santa's workshop. They give you a complimentary picture with Santa, but of course you can order more for family.

The Junior League of the Space Coast holds an annual Festival of Trees event each year that is free to walk through. There are many theme decorated trees and wreaths that you can admire and also vote on your favorite. Letters to Santa

Want to be sure your wishlist makes it directly to Santa? Realty World Curri Properties in Satellite Beach has a big mailbox set up at their front entrance where your child can leave their letters and also receive a note back from him too.

Lockmar Light Tunnels

A hidden gem neighborhood exists just south of Palm Bay Road, called Lockmar. They have been known for their Christmas Light Tunnels that stretch for miles. Street after street decorate their trees, homes, yards, fences and most importantly.. their roads. Thousands of lights arch over the streets just high enough for cars to roll through.

Downtown Melbourne hosts their Candlelight Shopping each weekend on New Haven Road. This is a great way to shop local and support small businesses within your own community. Have dinner at the mom and pop restaurants, listen to live music, take a carriage ride, and even stay at the Hotel Melby to keep the festivities rolling.
