New Year, New Home Goals

New Home, Investing, or Renovating in 2023? 

  As your writing your goals for 2023, it's always best to group your goals to stay organized on accomplishing you goals. Dividing your goals into 3 categories will allow you to achieve the most out of this new year... let me show you how!

Group 1- Personal Goals

  Your personal goals should be written down first because without taking care of your individual needs, you cannot expect to be at your best to achieve anything else in your life. These goals may include things like:

  -Achieving your fitness goals

  -Breaking any unwanted habits

  -Joining a club, church, sports league, book club, etc

  -Working on your communication to build strong relationships with your spouse, children, friends, family, co workers, etc

  -Planning your 2023 Vacation(s)

Group 2- Professional Goals

  When writing your goals, it may feel like your professional goals are a top priority because they bring you income. However as stated above, you need to be sure you are in a positive headspace in your personal goals before you'll ever be able to achieve success in your workplace. Professional goals will likely differ depending on the type of business you are in, but they may include:

  -Setting your income goal for the year

  -Learning a new skill(s) that will help you to become more effective in your business

  -Going back to school to change professions

Group 3- Life Goals

  Life goals are in the "bigger picture" of your life. These goals may be ongoing goals that take longer than just a year to achieve. They may be your 1-year, 5-year, 10-year or even 25-year goal. Think long and hard about what is most important to your future and how you plan to get there. Break it down into smaller bits each year until you get there. Here are examples of what we're planning in these kind of goals:

  -Paying off Debt

  -Setting up investments for retirement (Roth IRA, 401k, Stocks, etc)

  -Home Goals

     -Replacing the old roof, Remodeling your kitchen, New A/C unit

     -New Home... selling the old, buying again, or buying a vacation home

     -Investing in a rental home, or airBNB, or retirement home

  Throw out the idea of "start small"... if you have BIG Dreams, then write them down! Don't leave anything that you want from life off the table here, because you can achieve it all when you stay focused on your goals. Giving you better advice, I can tell you to set an Action Plan and a Deadline on your goals. French Airforce Pilot, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry says "A goal without a plan is just a wish." Jamaican-Canadian financial writer, Gail Vaz-Oxlade said “A goal without a deadline is just a dream.” Don't just wish and dream 2023 away. Decide on what is important to your life this year, and make it happen.
